Celebrations of 13 of May in Fátima

This year the celebrations of 13 of May in Fátima are marked by the concern of the Portuguese regarding with the raising of essential goods prices and the increasing number of families in financial and hunger problems.

In fact every week that I go to the several supermarkets I notice that several goods, like rice, milk, cheese, bread, … prices raised once again.

Why this continues rasen of prices no one could explain to me … and also no one seams able to explain to me why the concern about airports and high speed trains when there are increasing families that enter in financial and hunger problems.

In this country it seams that something isn’t right since our rulers and politicians steal concern about their fighting’s and exhibits, forgetting the people that are fighting to keep their houses and families.

Where this is going I still don’t know …

Mother Day

Last Sunday Portugal celebrated mother day

Now was the time for everyone considered what this date really means.

How are the mothers considered in Portugal? In work? At home? On the family? By the husband? By society?

The fact is that Portuguese society claims that the women has more rights and that are well considered and have their independence. But inside the Portuguese homes, far away from everyone eyes, the Portuguese women is still considered to be the home main taken care with all the tasks that comes with the job, cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, cloth keeping, grocery shopping, …. And if this was not enough more were added to the modern mother, the school obligations, free time occupations for the children, and off course half of the money provider and full time job.

But someone would wonder … isn’t this enough? And I can add, NO … since the TV, opening of society, magazines and all the media cover of the beautiful models, singers and actress, add to the Portuguese women also the obligation to be always perfect.

In the end we may add, were do women and today mothers get the time to do it all …
